It’s been 48 days since my Dear Baki (aka Lawrence) left for Dubai. I still feel lovesick sometimes and every time I get this feeling, I always muse over day he left. All the happenings from the day before his trip, while we were packing up his things, until the early morning flight, when I sent him off to the airport, linger in my head. All the diverse feelings keep coming back and lead me to incessantly sing this song.
The song is entitled “Leaving On A Jet Plane”, originally by John Denver with a remake done by Chantal Keviazuk. Now I have my own version for personal consumption, just so I can unshackle whatever it is that keeps me singing this song. I’m quite anxious ‘cause I’m thinking I might be violating some rules here (about making my own version). I hope I’m not but if I am, please be kind enough to let me know so I can do something about this post (perhaps I can delete this).
Oh by the way, here’s my version…
Leaving On An Airplane
All your bags are packed
You’re ready to go
I'm standing here outside my door
I hate to see you just to say goodbye
But the dawn is breakin'
This early mornin'
My taxi's waitin'
He's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome I could cry
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me you’ll be back for me
Hold me like you never wanna go
Cause you’re leaving on an airplane
Don't know when you’ll be back again
Oh I hate to see you go
There's so many times I've let you down
So many times I've played around
I tell you now
They don't mean a thing
Every place I go, I think of you
Every song I sing, I sing for you
When you come back
You’ll see a better me
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me you’ll be back for me
Hold me like you never wanna go
Cause you’re leaving on an airplane
Don't know when you’ll be back again
Oh I hate to see you go
Now the time has come to leave, but
One more time
Let me kiss you
I’ll close my eyes
’Cause you’ll be on your way
Dream about the days to come
When you won't have to leave alone
About the time when we won't have to say...
